Relationship Issues
I work with many clients who struggle in relationships, often due to reactivity, conflict/conflict avoidance, poor communication, unresolved wounds due to family of origin issues, and/ or codependency. Together, we dig beneath the surface and get to the roots of your conflicts. What causes all of the emotional triggers? How are each of your behaviors exacerbating the dynamic and what can you each do differently? I help couples identify and stop dysfunctional interaction cycles so you can reconnect through empathy and rediscover the close friendship you once had.
Generally speaking, couples have the same fight over and over often with little resolution or change. You and your partner may be fighting about chores, money, parenting, etc. but the real issues that underlie all of these fights are the same; the dynamic that has been set in motion has taken on a life of its own. You may not feel like your partner sees your true self anymore, because, let’s face it, who behaves like their true self when they are in conflict?
My husband and I coined the relationship dynamic “The Bitch and the Idiot” to refer to an all-too-common, but as yet unnamed relationship dynamic that, when gone unchecked, can lead to intense relationship dissatisfaction and even divorce. Sound familiar? Read more here.
